We were appointed by an award-winning private equity firm whose funds specifically seek to address UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 3, 5, 8 and 9 (No Poverty, Good Health, Gender Equality, Economic Growth and Innovation). To support these funds the client has undertaken a number of international fundraises and has been supported by Development Finance Institutes. To assure that fund and investor ESG requirements were aligned, the client was looking for experienced, specialist ESG advisors to help develop its approach to ESG implementation in a way that was robust, focussed and pragmatic.
With our extensive experience of ESG, West Africa and the sectors in which the client invests, Earth Active developed a bespoke capacity building programme focussed on the specific portfolio, stakeholders and geographies of operation. Our work involved guidance on design and delivery of appropriate Environmental and Social Management Systems, application of relevant international HSSE standards and guidance, development of fund-specific case studies and specific guidance on impact investing. Based on the implementation of the approaches developed our client was able to successfully complete further fundraises and continue to win awards for their ground-breaking work.
