Israel has a very broad range of experiences across several environmental topics, including environmental & social impact assessments and due diligence, environmental and social risk monitoring, health and safety, CSR, GHG accounting and modelling, policy frameworks and reporting standards.

Prior to joining Earth Active, Israel worked as a sustainability analyst in Sterling Bank, Nigeria, where he gained extensive experience in sustainable finance, E&S risk management, ESIA, ESDD and environmental and social action plans across many sectors, in accordance with World Bank/IFC Performance Standards. In this role, he worked on several projects with AATIF, Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), S&P and PwC, some of which were focused on identifying the bank’s exposures to high-carbon assets, providing solutions to making the bank’s portfolio “greener”, and developing an automated environmental and social risk rating system for clients and third-party providers for the bank.

Israel has strong knowledge and expertise in drafting sustainability reports, reviewing and preparing policies and frameworks for internal and external stakeholders according to specific standards such as TCFD, GRI, UNGC, CSRD, SECR and SASB.

He has a scientific and research focused background with a degree in Applied Botany – Environmental Botany & Palynology from the University of Lagos, and a MSc in Biotechnology from the University of Greenwich, London.

Asides work, Israel loves nature and animals, spending time being active at the gym, visiting historical sites and watching football.
