Carl has over 35 years’ experience of environmental management including social and health impact assessment, auditing, air quality, planning, project and contractor management and training. He has detailed experience working for a broad range of clients, in a variety of business sectors including transport infrastructure (roads, airports and rail links), renewables (e.g. hydrogen, wind, solar), power, oil & gas, cement, incineration, food stuffs, sewage treatment works, carbon black plants, waste landfills and lead smelters.
Carl has extensive experience of environmental permitting and has authored and managed numerous permits to operate in the UK and abroad for a range of industries. He has worked for the World Bank ombudsman (CAO) and conducted detailed negotiations with the lenders and regulators. He has been on the committee and various sub-committees and working groups at the Institute for Air Quality Management and the Institute for Environmental Sciences (IES) and authored various guidance for them including on indoor air quality and the assessment of air quality impacts from construction. When not working Carl enjoys classical music, skiing, cooking and travel.
