Safeguarding the Sumatran Tiger

Yesterday was International Tiger Day, lets take some time to focus on these iconic animals. According to WWF wild tiger numbers sadly dropped by more than 95% since the beginning of the 20th century. Our biodiversity specialists recently supported safeguard development in the forests of Hutan Harapan (Sumatra, Indonesia), one of the last remaining habitats of the Sumatran tiger and an important stepping stone in a wider tiger corridor. Earth Active worked with the project implementer to put in place a range of governance and road mitigation measures that would help protect this critical habitat in one of the last places on earth it calls home.
