What do you currently do for Earth Active?

Coming into Earth Active with a diverse environmental background, I am currently engaged across various teams including ESIA, ESDD, and climate. My role involves both project management and technical writing.

What opportunities have you been given?

In my position, I've had the privilege to work across a wide array of sectors. This includes conducting impact assessment and examinations for the transport sector in Asia, to devising a carbon reductions strategy for a UK company in the wine business, to facilitating the development and due diligence of projects entering the carbon market in Africa. This diversity allows me to tailor unique solutions to the distinct environmental and social challenges each project presents.

What do you love about Earth Active?

The dynamic nature of my role is what I find most rewarding – each week brings fresh challenges and opportunities. I enjoy the chance to lead projects and engage with inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds and corners of the globe on a daily basis.

What value do you deliver to clients?

Our team's collective expertise and hands-on experience across various sectors and regions enable us to grasp the specific constraints and nuances of different industries and geographies. This deep understanding allows us to deliver customised and sustainable solutions that truly meet our clients' needs.

What is your role at Earth Active?

My role ranges across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including environmental assessment and management, due diligence, sustainable solutions, and project management. My work involves providing and applying technical advice which incorporates the requirements of major international finance institutions on a variety of development sectors, including ventures within Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.

I have a varied scientific background, starting in Marine Biology and then Air Quality before taking on a broader and more multidisciplinary role.

It has also allowed me to work with numerous specialists and clients around the world, in addition to being involved in a range of projects.

 What do you love most about what you do?

The relationships you build through regular client engagement and helping deliver high-quality environmental services and solutions that create a difference. My role has led me to work on projects all over the world and learn from unique environmental and social challenges projects face across different landscapes and cultures. These include projects in the Philippines, Oman, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Antigua and the British Virgin Islands.

What are the opportunities and challenges at work that get you excited?  

There are wide opportunities to experience a multitude of topics due to the diversity of inhouse projects. The company supports exposure to high levels of responsibility at every career level, which has forced me to learn quickly. However, this has enhanced my knowledge and confidence to take on client challenges and lead projects independently. I am now an established project manager within the company, overseeing numerous projects simultaneously and holding multiple key client facing roles.

What is the value you deliver to clients?

Throughout my experience in International Development, I have gained a good understanding and overview of the issues projects face and strategically work alongside multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients to meet project targets and de-risk investment opportunities through optimising environmental, social and governance outcomes.
