Safeguarding the Sumatran Tiger

According to WWF, wild tiger numbers have dropped by more than 95% since the beginning of the 20th century. We are celebrating International Tiger Day at Earth Active and reflecting on a recent project which focussed on the protection of these iconic animals. A team of our biodiversity specialists recently supported safeguard development in the forests of Hutan Harapan (Sumatra, Indonesia), one of the last remaining habitats of the Sumatran tiger and an important stepping stone in a wider tiger corridor.

Our experienced team worked closely with the project implementer to put in place a range of governance and road mitigation measures to help protect this critical habitat in one of the last places on earth this particular species of tiger calls home.
