NatureMetrics, a global nature intelligence technology company, presented last week’s Lunch and Learn for our team. They gave a fascinating presentation around the latest developments from their laboratory in Guildford as well as their nature Intelligence platform, powered by eDNA. We loved hearing about how they identify the right tools to use for different projects across the variety of sectors, from crazy freshwater fish in Columbia to Piranhas in the Amazon.
eDNA has great potential for biodiversity baselining and monitoring change over time – problems we’re helping clients solve every day. We’re continually looking for appropriate opportunities to build eDNA into our biodiversity monitoring programmes and are actively exploring its application in a range of our ongoing major development projects.
Nature Metrics’ use of eDNA to identify high commercial value marine biodiversity within local communities has great potential to support Earth Active with its ecosystem service impact assessments. It also provides an intriguing option for our team to work with projects to reveal high priority areas for conservation, that will both protect species of high human value and promote the growth of local green economies.
