We are working on an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for the construction of four new faculties at Katyavala Bwila University in Baía Farta (UKB) Municipality, Benguela, Angola.
The Ministério do Ensino Superior, Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação (MESTCI) has identified the need for the provision of new infrastructure that can respond to the increased demand for the improvement of higher education in Angola. The development of a new campus on land designated for urban expansion, with room for further development, is considered a key priority to both improve the existing facilities offered by UKB and to serve as a catalyst to attract other investment to the area.
The ESIA will align the project with international lender requirements and good industry practice, whilst safeguarding environment and social impacts. We are also pleased to be contributing to a project that will help increase educational opportunities for the people of Angola.
Working with MFC Social • Environmental Performance Consulting Ltd. and in association with our national partner Holísticos, and undertaking consultancy services for Focus Education, we will prepare an international lender-compliant ESIA for the development of the new faculties.
