Remember life before “lockdown 3”? Just before, the team met at our London offices for our annual ‘End of Year Wrap Up’ meeting; we used the opportunity to reflect on 2020 – an “interesting” year! It was great to get the team networking together and so refreshing after working from home.
The Covid pandemic has brought challenging times for many businesses, for us it has restricted travel plans, postponed flights and delayed projects, however, we are fortunate to have a global network of specialists supporting us. Our diverse and exciting projects have continued to grow. As ESG specialists working across the emerging markets, we delivered projects in over 21 countries across 4 continents, with over 20 independent experts and a dozen national partners. We supported the delivery of over 2,000km of linear infrastructure across Central Asia and Eastern Europe, helped provide reliable power to over 26,000 people in Afghanistan and developed action plans for over 20 endangered species. We also helped address gender imbalances in Egypt and Palestine by developing new national Governance codes, and safeguarded the resettlement and compensation of several hundred people for nationally important projects.
As Earth Active strives to be a force for positive environmental and social change, it is important in these trying times to celebrate these successes. And whilst the team may all be back home again for now, behind the scenes this important work continues. Looking towards the year ahead, we have some fantastic projects in the pipeline, we are already seeing Earth Active and its partners working on the ground in Nepal, Indonesia, Guinea, Tunisia, Bosnia, South Africa and hopefully we may even get to some of these places this year! But in the meantime, our associates, partners and clients continue to carry our banner enabling us to keep working on interesting projects, in interesting places, with interesting people. So a big shout out to our entire network, and bring on 2021! May it be differently interesting this year..
