Earth Active is delighted to welcome Mark King as CEO, following his global leadership of environmental, social and governance issues at the World Bank and at the EBRD.
Through Earth Active’s unique experience, we advise clients on the challenges and opportunities for value-creation that ESG management offers in investment portfolios around the world.
Mark’s role is to steer our growth as a strategic ESG consultancy, working for financial institutions and global investors, focused on emerging markets.
At the World Bank as Chief Officer, Environmental and Social Standards, Mark led the reform of the Bank’s safeguard policies and the development of a comprehensive Environmental and Social Framework for project finance.
Mark also established and led the rigorous oversight teams responsible for project due diligence and for portfolio risk-management at the World Bank and in his 20-year career at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; being directly involved in the highest-risk and most complex projects.
He has worked with financial institutions, inter-governmental agencies, borrowers, NGOs, consultancies and clients on the full range of ESG issues including capacity building and training; policy development and compliance; risk-mitigation; human rights, gender and labour; indigenous peoples, cultural and other social concerns; and environmental and health and safety matters.
Now at Earth Active, Mark will lead our client conversations, our team, and our collaborative-partner alliance in our work advising investors, institutions and other clients on all these ESG matters: on sustainability; on biodiversity loss and climate change; on equality, diversity and unlocking human capital – employing his unique experience to deliver the best outcomes for our clients.
